Customer Review: Forget about replacements
DOn't think about buying this product unless plan on never having to replace the carafe. I purchased a boat and this unit came installed in it. During one of our trips, the carafe came out of the unit and crashed on the floor. I called Applica/B&D only to be connected to some company called Fox International. Their customer service rep told me that no carafes are available for the 3 month old coffeemaker, but they would be more than happy to sell me a new coffeemaker. It is quite apparent that Applica has no concern about providing service for any items they sell.
Customer Review: Replacement Coffee Maker
The unit was a re-built unit and has worked without fail every AM for the last year. There is a water leaking problem when you fill the water bin to the max (12 cups), however you can keep this from being a problem by only filling it to 11 cup level.

Black & Decker (Us) Inc B&D Drip Coffee Maker 5 Cup Prog. Perm Filter Blk

Stainless steel appliances are a nice upgrade for you home. That being said, you need to make them last, which means you need to know how to keep them sparkling.

A routine maintenance schedule should be adhered to about every three or four months depending on how much you use your appliances. Another problem to be addressed is the everyday cleaners that build up on your stainless steel appliances. Knowing how to get this residue off and keep your appliances nice and shiny will keep your appliances looking new for many years to come.

The process is pretty simple, but you will need to purchase a polish specifically formulated for use on stainless steel appliances. Once you have your polishing cream on hand, you can begin the de-gunking process. Go ahead and fill a bucket or pail with warm soapy water. Dish liquid or other nonabrasive cleaners can be used in this step. Something with a degreaser in it will be handy when it comes to getting the grease off of the stove. Now work the cleaning solution into the grain of the stainless steel and then come back at it from the other direction. This will loosen up any stuck-on residues. Dry the appliance with a dry towel.

You are now ready for the next step of the process, the rebirth of the sparkle. When you finish with drying the appliance, it will be dull. Dont be alarmed because the polishing cream you purchased will restore the shine that made you want the stainless steel in the first place. Apply the cream according to the manufacturer directions. Be sure to wipe off any excess polishing cream right away.

Now you can use another dry towel to buff the polishing cream back off. Be sure to wipe with the grain for best results. You may have to really put some elbow grease into getting it as shiny as you would like for it to be. After you know how to de-gunk stainless steel appliances and you do a good job of it, it will be easier the next time you are faced with this task.

Getting the job done right the first time should be your main concern. Dont worry if you can still see a few marks in various places on your appliances. You can always get them the next time now that you know how to do it correctly.

Black & Decker DE790 8 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe, White

Use the digital clock / timer and wake to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. In a hurry Enjoy the convenience of Pause-to-Serve to stop the brew cycle while you pour a quick cup full. For peace of mind the unit shuts off immediately after brewing and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee at optimal temperature for several hours.
Customer Review: Good Coffee Maker
I got this coffee maker a year or two ago, and I like it. It keeps the coffee hot for a long time and it doesn't change the taste of the coffee if it sits for a while. Getting the lid on the pot just right took a try or two the first time, but now it doesn't trip me up at all. It's also easy operate as far as turning it on and programming it to start brewing at a certain time.
Customer Review: Several problems for only "okay" coffee
I've owned this coffee maker for about 2 years. Problems: - carafe lid requires fooling around with to make it fit right - carafe drips onto counter every time we pour a cup of coffee - it is a little awkward to fill the water container so we often spill some water around the coffee maker - the filter basket has a gizmo on it that doesn't stay popped on And, now, the coffee maker no longer makes a full pot of coffee, shutting itself off after there is just an inch or so of coffee in the bottom of the carafe. When we push the on button, it will again make about an inch of coffee and shut itself off.

There has been a major upswing in coffee consumption in the United States lately. That doesn't just mean the types and kinds of coffee available, but also the dazzling array of flavors that you can order your coffee in. Now, in addition to frappaccino and mocha latte, we can have raspberry nutmeg or almond crunch coffee. If it sounds like you are eating dessert instead of drinking coffee, don't be concerned. These new flavors are achieved simply by adding flavored syrups to the coffee. They add little to the coffee in the way of calories, and lots in the way of flavor.

This trend towards flavored coffees has been around for only a few years in the United States, but it has been a pleasure that has been enjoyed in other countries for years. Some of the best coffee brewers and coffee shops have traditionally used flavorings to make the ordinary cup of coffee more interesting. Quality coffee shops will use natural ingredients to flavor their coffee and add a richness to it. They try to use pure and natural ingredients in the syrups and flavorings in their coffeemakers. When they blend the espresso in the espresso machine, the ingredients are added before hand so the coffee is infused with the flavor.

Flavored coffee syrups are made from a sugar base to which is added natural flavorings such as fruits, nuts or spices. These are blended in a water mix and then concentrated into a syrup. One of the main reasons that flavored coffees have become such a rage is that they offer sweetness and flavor without contributing to fat or cholesterol intake. The recent craze to avoid fat and cholesterol has contributed greatly to the popularity of flavored coffee syrups.

Low carb diets are another boon to the flavored coffee business. You can feel as though you are eating a chocolate donut when you order a choco-latte, but there are no carbs in this baby. There are also sugar free syrups for those who want to avoid sugar, either because of the calories or because they have diabetes. You can enjoy the same vanilla, hazelnut, almond, caramel, Irish cream, chocolate, raspberry or amaretto coffees without fear of consuming sugar. They usually use a calorie free Splenda to substitute for the sugar taste.

If you enjoy your coffee with a lot of flavor to it, there is no end to the tastes you can experiment with using flavored coffee syrups.

Evaporative coolers for commercial purposes? It may sound strange since we all are used to personal evaporative coolers. The concept of commercial air coolers is the same as the one that you use at your home. The difference lies in the size of the unit and the area covered. Industries need big sized air coolers that are capable of cooling larger areas. Moreover, the evaporative coolers used for commercial purposes require good quality durable cabinets, usually made of stainless steel with long lasting wet pads and heavy pumps. They are efficient in providing area and spot cooling within no time.

Air Coolers In Workplace

It is believed that to work properly in your workplace, you need to have a room temperature of around 23 24 C, failing which the work efficiency decreases. But in most places, the need to cool the room temperature is felt only for a few months. Thus, installing heavy air conditioners is unnecessary in those regions. The three basic things that commercial houses consider in an air cooler are its speed, flexibility and cost. The evaporative coolers are a popular choice for commercial purposes because compared to air conditioners; they are less expensive and suit well in ventilated places like workshops and factories.

Features Of Commercial Air Coolers

The commercial coolers comprise powerful motors and premium pads. The pads are so prepared to provide extra protection against harmful pollutants and excess cooling. The throw of commercial coolers is larger as they are designed to cool large areas. Most of them are provided with heavy wheels for ease in movement that can be locked. The diameter of the fan and the water retention capacity is larger than the personal coolers.

Made out of stainless steel, they are durable and provide years of service and maintenance. The best part is, depending on the application, the units can be custom designed. In most cases the powerful blowers have backward incline or forward curve to manage high volume of air and static pressure. The commercial coolers are available in up discharge, down, side and various other configurations.

Standard Sized Air Coolers

The standard size of the commercial evaporative coolers can go up to 60,000 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute). There are a few things that are to be kept in mind while selecting commercial evaporative coolers. Avoid coated or galvanized steel and use a stainless steel of grade 304 to enhance durability. These economic coolers not only decrease the cost of operation, but also ensure the constant supply of cool and fresh air in and out of the area where it is placed.

Matthew Anderson adds regularly reviews on air coolers to http://www.evaporative-air-coolers.com, an online information magazine about the basics of how evaporative air coolers work and some of the advantages of the technology for a good air conditioning . Read more about how to maintain evaporative coolers for different models and commercial manufacturers as well as the range of prices and at his specialized website

B&D 8cup COFFEE MAKER PRGRMBL.-THERMAL CARAFE-WHITE

Use the digital clock / timer and wake to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. In a hurry Enjoy the convenience of Pause-to-Serve to stop the brew cycle while you pour a quick cup full. For peace of mind the unit shuts off immediately after brewing and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee at optimal temperature for several hours.

Until fairly recently the only way you could cook rice properly was by using the traditional method of boiling it in a pan. However over the past few years many people have discovered that electric rice cookers are the easiest and simple way to get perfect rice every time. Now there are so many models on the market you really are spoiled for choice. This article will take a look at a few things that need to be borne in mind when choosing the rice cooker for you and finding the right rice cooker for your needs.

The first thing to think about is whether you want a totally automatic rice cooker or what you want to have a manual cooker. The main difference is that a manual version can be used to do things that an automatic version sometimes cannot, such as cooking rice in a certain way so that you get a hard crust on the rice that is needed for certain types of cuisine. Most people will choose the automatic version and this is the one that is the easiest to use.

The next thing you need to consider is whether or not the rice cooker is programmable. If you can program the rice cooker it means you can set the cooker to turn off at a certain time so that the rice is ready when you come home after a hard day at the office. Most rice cookers are programmable in some way or other, so if you want total control it is best to go for one of the more expensive models that give you more programmable options.

The final thing to think about is whether you want your cooker to simply cook rice or whether you wanted to be able to cook other foodstuffs such as vegetables. Some rice cookers have a steaming function which enables them to be used as a vegetable steamer and this can come in really handy when you have different types of cuisine that you want to create.

Take time to look at the various types of rice cooker that are available on today's market and do your research before making a proper choice.

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug

Wouldn't this make a great gift for a student, or a commuter? The machine brews right into the thermal travel mug and then shuts itself off, so your favorite coffee lover can simply grab and go!
Customer Review: Excellent Personal Coffemaker
As an on-the-go college student, I can say that this is an excellent personal coffemaker! It brews quickly, turns itself off when it is finished, and is easy to clean. I use a paper filter (size 1) inside the mesh basket to make clean-up even easier. The included travel mug is very sturdy. Heating water for instant oatmeal is another good use, but the water isn't hot enough to make good tea, in my opinion. Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend it!
Customer Review: Just Okay...
I'm not sad I bought it, it makes me realize what kind of coffee maker I really need. I drink coffee very irregularly and needed something that would just make me a cup when I felt the need and my dad a cup when he came over. It does the job, but dirties very easy and the top of the machine isn't heavy enough to stop water from leaking out. It does do the job, but my next one will be better made and easier to clean.

All the Keurig coffee maker also make Teas and Hot chocolate along with the coffees, so you need not worry on that aspect. And with the variety of 150+ different K-cups to choose from, and even then if you don't find one for your taste bud add your own coffee, a Keurig coffee maker can just be what you wanted for that perfect cup of coffee for you. But from the different models to choose from based on their technical descriptions of the features describing these models it can be a bit difficult to make up your mind on which model is the right one for you. So if its a Keurig coffee maker model which has caught your attention, here are some details which can be useful in helping you decide the right model for you.

Here are a few questions you need to answer before you make your purchase of your home coffee maker.

  • How many choices do you need in different cup sizes?

  • The Keurig Elite B40 has 2 cup sizes to choose from - 7. 25 oz and 9. 25 oz, the Keurig B60 offers you a choice of 3 - 5. 25 oz, 7. 25 oz and 9. 25 oz where as the big brother of these two, the Keurig platinum B70 offers 4 - 5. 25 oz, 7. 25 oz, 9. 25 oz and 11. 25 oz. So if you like a large cup of coffee, a coffee maker which can fill in your cup can be a feature you may like in your machine. Again, if you like your coffee strong, its the smaller size cups that can give you a strong cup of coffee. So the coffee machines with the larger cup size are not what will make a difference for you.
  • How many cups of coffee do you need?

  • Do you need a larger capacity? The Keurig B40 and the B60 models come with a 48 oz removable reservoir whereas if you need larger capacity water reservoir, go for the Keurig B70 with a 60 oz capacity. So depending on the cup size you choose, the 60 oz will let you have more time and more cups between filling the water reservoir. The B70 can be quite good if you love to entertain aswell, again removes the hard work of filling the water reservoir after every few cups.
  • How important is the programmable function for you?

  • The B60 and B70 come with a nice looking programmable LCD screen which can be good feature to have in a machine, as it informs you of quite a few things like when the machine is ready for a brew or when the water reservoir needs filling up. Also, if you like a large cup of coffee, the B60 and B70 even lets you programme and set your default cup size.

These are a few points you might like to consider before making your final purchase.

So if you are looking to buy a Keurig coffee maker do some research and review what the different models have to offer you.

Black & Decker DCM2000-PT 12 Cup Coffeemaker Lighted On/Off Switch

Customer Review: Kalei
This is the first coffee maker that has a larger spout that does not spill when you pour your coffee
Customer Review: Doesn't last
We bought this pot based on the Consumer Reports recommendation. Major mistake. It looks cheap, and takes forever to brew a cup of coffee. But the major issue is that it doesn't hold up. We've had it 6 months, and the metal plate has rusted out (it's not our water, we use filtered). The lid on the carafe is ready to break - you have to take it off to clean and it's only connected by little plastic hinges. I'm going to have to get a new coffee maker. I'm going back to Braun, and the experience has eroded my confidence in Consumer Reports. Amazon reviews seem much more reliable.

Air Conditioners: In an Air Conditioner chemicals are used to cool the temperature of the room. The liquid chemicals are produced from a gas, which again converts to gas form. The chemical transfers the heat from the inside to the outside of the room.

Mainly the Air Conditioner machine has three parts, a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator. The condenser and compressor are in the outside portion of the machine while the evaporator is located inside the room.

In the processor the chemical, which is a low-pressured cooled gas, enters. The processor then squeezes that chemical. It makes the molecules of the chemical come closer together. The closer molecules create high energy and heat. The chemical leaves the compressor as hot and high-pressure gas and enters the condenser. At the backside of the machine we can see a metal fin. It works as a radiator and helps to cool down the heat very quickly. When the chemical leaves the condenser, it becomes very cold. The liquid flows in the evaporator through a small hole.

On the other end the chemical becomes colder and starts to evaporate and becomes gas. As the liquid becomes gas it soaks heat from the surrounding area. The heat of the air is needed to separate molecules of the chemical, which were packed together in the processor. The evaporator also has metal fins to exchange cool temperature with surrounding air. The liquid again leaves the evaporator and begins the same process. A fan connected with the evaporator circulates the cool air into the room.

Black & Decker ODC440B Spacemaker Coffeemaker, Black

Kitchen counter space seems to be shrinking? Black and Decker ODC440 under cabinet SpaceMaker will brew your coffee using less space. Free up valuable counter space with this 12-cup capacity coffeemaker from a name you trust. Unique "sneak-a-cup" feature allows you to interrupt brewing to pour your "cuppa' Joe." Also features a programmable digital clock, glass carafe, and a removable brew basket and water reservoir for easy cleaning. Automatically shuts off after 2 hours for safety and energy preservation
Customer Review: Should be recalled
I had a Black & Decker spacemaker model for 13 years and loved it. When it took its last breath, I naturally went with the new space maker. What a huge disappointment. I woke up one morning to find the grinds and water all over the counter. I called Black & Decker and they sent me a new brew basket. This one leaks all over the place, unless you tape it shut or wrap elastics around the front inner part of the basket. The clock changes time all by itself and after you pour yourself a cup of coffee, you need to put the cup in the microwave to make the coffee hot enough. Just the fact that it leaks hot fluid all over the counter should be reason enough to recall it. Black & Decker should be ashamed to sell such an inferior product.
Customer Review: A little dissatisfied
My B&D spacemaker is not even 2 yrs old and it has started leaking all over the counter while brewing. Also the clock never worked right from the beginning, always ran fast, so I had to reset it at night if I was going to use the auto brewing. Other than that, I liked it alot as it doesn't sit right on the counter and you can wash the water reservoir separately, which is difficult on a counter model (we have well water & it gets yucky.)

Ultraviolet water purifiers are widely used by people who enjoy outdoor activities to purify lake or stream water for drinking. Ultraviolet water purifiers should be used at home also, it is an effective way to get rid of waterborne disease-causing microorganisms that might be in, yes, your tap water!

Even though most municipal water is treated with chlorine as a form of disinfectant at the water plant, bacteria, viruses and cysts may still be present in tap water. These microorganisms are in the water due to aging, cracked pipe and many other means. It is possible that cross connections, such as sewage lines crossing water lines, may increase the risk of water becoming contaminated. Scientists estimate that each year up to 7 million Americans become sick from contaminated tap water, especially among children, pregnant women, the elders and those with weak immune system. Many people have turned away from tap water for this reason, but unfortunately, many bottled water are not so safe for drinking either beside the cost measure.

If you are concerned about the bacteria, the parasites, the algae, and the fungus.... in your tap water, ultraviolet purification is an EPA approved technology to protect your family from waterborne disease-causing microorganisms. Ultraviolet (or UV) light has a wavelength shorter than visible light (such as daylight); it is destructive to the RNA and DNA of microorganisms. The ultraviolet water purifier unit I use has a UV bulb in the center of the cartridge, it puts out up to 80 millijoules (units of measure) of UV light - enough to destroy more than 99.99% of waterborne, disease-causing bacteria and viruses in drinking water.

Getting your water tested may give you a good idea of what type of contaminants might be in your water. You can also ask your water utility (the company that sends you your water bill) for a copy of their annual water quality report that shows what are or might be in your water supply. In general, whether your water source is from ground or from surface, there is some form of water pollution no matter where you live. Choosing a good water filter, preferably with an ultraviolet water purifier not only gives you the peace of mind, but it does a good job protecting you and your family from any unforeseen outbreak. Did you know that waterborne diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms which are directly transmitted when contaminant water is consumed? People may have symptoms such as fatigue, diarrhea, vomiting, gas pain, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, fever, muscle aches....

My family enjoys our ultraviolet water purifier, which has a dual technology cartridge that not only destroy 99.99% of waterborne microorganisms but also effectively filter out over 140 health effect contaminants that might be found in city tap water. Protect your health and the health of those you love, invest in a good quality water filtration device and you will never regret it. Just remember, up to 70% of our body weight is water, making sure it is clean and bacteria free is crucial to your health and well-being.

Stop throwing money away buying bottled water and save the earth, invest in a dual cartridge ultraviolet water purifier can save your health. This patented water purifier is voted "World's Best Source of Water" for a reason!

Black & Decker DCM2590 SmartBrew 8-Cup Drip Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafe, Black

Perfect Pour® thermal carafe keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours and has a dripless spout for serving ease. Easy-to-set digital clock/timer lets you wake up to the rich aroma and flavor of fresh-brewed coffee.
Customer Review: Returned it......
Sorry to say... The coffee just didn't taste right. It seemed like every cup of coffee tasted musty. At first I thought maybe the coffee was the problem (old, etc...) but we tried three different brands. I think the problem came down to the coffee maker was not heating up the water hot enough. A recent article stated that the drip water must reach 195 degrees to make good coffee and this coffeemaker sure didn't seem to be getting anywhere near that. Seemed almost lukewarm.
Customer Review: Good coffee
I ordered this as a gift for my son who lives in a college dorm. He tells me it works well, makes good coffee; the only issue he has is that the amount of condensation on top of the carafe causes it to be a bit "drippy," but not excessively so. He is saving money by having the coffee in his room as opposed to buying expensive coffee drinks elsewhere. I would order this product again.

With so many people becoming wine enthusiasts these days, wine refrigerators have come to fill the need for storage. However, many of us do not have the space, money or desire for a full blown, walk-in wine cellar. Under counter Wine Coolers make the perfect solution.

With varying capacities, dimensions and designs, today's selection of Undercounter designs allow you to find the perfect setup and configuration for any room or space. Under counter Wine Refrigerator models come with standard features like adjustable shelving and reversible swing double-pane glass doors. Some features, however, differ from brand to brand, depending on the model you choose.

Under counter Wine Coolers offer a compact beverage chilling and cooling solution. When serving wine, beer and other beverages you need to be certain that they are served at the right temperature to ensure complete satisfaction and enjoyment. The right wine chilling appliance is, therefore, crucial. These coolers provide the required controllable refrigeration in a compact and accessible form that can be located right where the wine is served.

There are a few things to consider when buying a wine cooler. If, for instance, you like to keep both red and white wines and you can either consider a dual zone refrigerator or possibly two small ones- one for each type. Also, depending on the length of time, and the quality of wine you will be storing, vibration control is a feature you should check.

Another factor to look into before buying an Undercounter Wine Cooler is humidity. The nicer models have the ability to maintain the proper humidity level inside the unit and still circulate the air enough to discourage mold and mildew. They will have more insulation and specially treated glass panes to help maintain a constant temperature. This is especially useful, if the refrigerator is placed where the temperature will fluctuate a great deal, such as in the garage.

The decor of the Wine Cooler is also something to consider. There are a wide variety of woods and other decorative features to help ensure that the unit adds to instead of detracts from the decor of your kitchen. They even have refrigerated credenzas and other fine furniture for placement anywhere in the house. This way of collecting and storing wines will also help you showcase your wine collection to friends and guests.

Storage capacity of an Undercounter Wine Cooler is also a must. If you are new to buying and storing wine, then purchasing a wine refrigerator that has a little more capacity than you would think you need is a good idea. You can also consider your need for adjustable shelving for increased space.

Not only are Under counter Wine Refrigerators easy to incorporate into small places, but they are great for someone just starting a collection. You can browse through various Under counter Wine Coolers online, and find some great deals on all models. Try one today and put an end to all your wine storing problems, once and for all.

Black & Decker DCM2900 SmartBrew 12 Cup Digital Coffee Maker

Programmable Clock and Timer / Stop & Serve Mode / Easy to Read Water Reservoir Markings / Removable Brew Basket / White
Customer Review: Dribble Carafe
Purchased to replace a Mr. Coffee that finally gave up the ghost. Had comparable features like auto brew timer and auto shut off. Will be replacing it soon with another Mr Coffee. When you pour the first and second cups you can expect to make a mess with the dribble carafe. It is difficult to fill the coffee maker with water without making another mess. I dont know why they added a splash bar across the fill area but it does make filling it with water a challenge. On the positive side the brew timer and suto shut off work well and it makes coffee as you would expect. The big down side is that useability is lacking.
Customer Review: Stay away from this one
I have had this coffee maker for about a month. I thought the longer I had it, the easier it would be to pour coffee into a cup or water into the maker without making a mess on the counter top. I was wrong. I am going to return this one and get one of the 'real' Smartbrew Black & Decker coffee makers. This one is not a 'Smartbrew' model. The Smartbrew models have what B&D calls a Perfect Pour spout. These carafes are a breeze to pour. No dribbles, ever. Why they don't use the nicer carafe on all their models is a mystery to me. I have had a non-programmable B&D Smartbrew coffee maker at my camper for 7 years. It makes way better coffee than this one and the carafe is way better.

As winter approaches, everyone begins to think about the furnace. Will in kick on? Will it last through another long, cold winter? Should we install a new furnace? If so, with what kind? If these questions are familiar to you, keep reading as we try to "demystify" a couple of household heating sources.

The most important step to take before starting the furnace for the season is to have it inspected by a licensed professional. They will clean the furnace, make sure it is in good working order, they will also recommend any parts that will need to be serviced or replaced in the near future.

If the furnace inspector tells you that it is time to replace the furnace, you may be overwhelmed by the choices in todays furnace market. There are the standard gas, oil and electric furnaces as well as the newer outdoor wood furnaces and corn-fueled furnaces to name a few. There is lots of information available on these newer furnaces on the internet, however, a quick overview will be provided here.

One of the most popular options today is an outdoor heating source. It uses the old standby of wood, but eliminates the mess and smell associated with burning wood. An outdoor wood heating unit is placed approximately 500ft from the house. The wood burner itself is built inside of a small building, this often is made to look like a smaller house or shed. The heat is carried from the burner via heated water, which runs through underground, insulated pipes. This is the most effective and efficient method for moving heat over distances. Once the heated water reaches its destination, there are a couple of options for actually heating the home. Using a boiler, radiant floor heating system, a heat exchanger or a forced air furnace that is powered by a direct circulation system. The wood burning system can also do double duty to heat household water if a water-to-water heat exchanger is installed.

Although there are many advantages to using an outside wood burning furnace, it has a down side to its use as well. The cost can be quite high for most people, running approximately $5,000 installed. This of course, depends upon what part of the country you live in.

Another alternative to the traditional furnace that is gaining in popularity is the corn burning furnace. This type of furnace uses shelled corn (the same kind fed to livestock) to heat a home. While this is a viable source of heat it is not fool proof, it does have drawbacks that need to be considered before making a final decision.

Corn fuel furnaces are comparable to a convention furnace as far as price is concerned, costing roughly $2,000. It uses corn that has no more than 15% moisture content; fortunately, this is the same percentage of moisture as feed corn, making it very easy to obtain from a local elevator. The cost of burning corn as compared to propane is approximately one bushel of corn is to 5.5 gallons of propane fuel. Corn is also a natural and renewable resource, and keeps farmers in business while keeping your heating costs down.

On the other side, corn fed furnaces need daily cleaning to be efficient. They also run on an electric fan system, if you lose electricity, you lose heat also. For this reason, its best to either have a generator or a back up furnace for emergencies.

Being armed with the knowledge of these types of heating sources will make you a more educated consumer when it is time to replace an old, worn out furnace.

Black & Decker DCM675BF 5-Cup Drip Coffee Programmable Maker with Permanent Filter

BandD 5C Program CoffeeMaker, Permanent Filter
Customer Review: Great but needs more heat!
For the price and the features, I don't think you can beat this little guy. My only complaint is that the coffee is not as hot as I'd like it to be, even as soon as it's done brewing. It's not hot, more like warm to very warm. Other than that, it's a great little unit. Just the right size, and very user friendly.
Customer Review: Amazing little brewer for cheap! Able to "Potless-Brew!"
Just right for a quick "Single" cup of coffee. I brew directly into the cup so I don't need (or want) the mid-brewing auto-shutoff for pouring during brewing. On units that have temporary brew-stopping device will not brew directly into a mug or cup. Reason is the little spring-loaded shut-off valve is always on "off" when the pot is removed. So, this unit is just great for a pot-less brewing directly into your mug. Great for the one or two people who want decaf when you're brewing a pot of regular. Linens-n-Things has it for $19.95 less 20% if you get their coupons in local flyers. I paid $16.00, amazing. I don't like permanent filters because they retain the coffee oil after brewing and that oil film eventually turns rancid unless you wash the basket after each brewing with detergent to remove the oil. Does anyone know who makes a 4-cup round paper filter for use? I am using a #2 cone filter but it fits sloppily. Suggestions?

Considered one of the most widely found kitchen utensils, the juicer has a conical ridged center that is pressed against a fruit or vegetable to extract its juices. Contemporary juicers are used because squeezing juices from any type of agricultural product can be a messy and difficult process. But as one would wear different types of clothes to attend different types of events, selecting the best juicer for a specific task has to be based on the particular needs it will serve.

Mainly used as part of the food preparation process, juicers help people squeeze the juice out from the soft-centered citrus fruits, like orange, lemon, lime or grapefruit. By cutting those in half and then pressing down their inner surface against the conical ridged center of a juicer, the necessary amount of juice is extracted to be consumed directly as a juice in a glass or to be part of the cooking endeavors of a person. Usually, the rest of the fruit its skin, pulp and seeds is discarded after the squeezing process is over and no more juice comes out.

When electronic devices were introduced in kitchens in order to assist the culinary efforts of men and women, electric juice extractors became part of peoples every practices. Used to prepare a fresh orange juice in the morning, or to get the juice of a lemon when preparing lemon-based recipes, mechanical juicers are part of someones daily food preparation tactics. Considered today extremely helpful, the two main types of juice extractors a centrifugal juicer that uses a blade and a sieve to separate juice and pulp or a masticating juicer that chews fruit to a pulp before squeezing the juice from it are available in several designs and styles. In fact, people can select from a variety of juicers, either because their color simply matches that of their kitchens counter tops, or because they are recommended by famous professional culinary chefs.

According to experts, the speed with which an electric juice operates plays a significant role in the quality of the outcome. Faster moving parts allow more air to integrate into the juice and thus, oxidize its nutrients, while slower juice processors can extract the juice out of fruit or vegetables without lowering its healthy elements quality.

Finally, many use their electronic blenders as juicers, because blenders can chop and mix raw fruits and vegetables together with a liquid, such as water, milk, or juice, creating a juice-like beverage.

Customer Review: Daily coffee drinker likes this product
I purchased this machine months ago. I program it each night so that my coffee is ready and waiting for me the next workday. If you leave it on it turns off by itself after two hours. I also have a bigger coffee maker but I use that one only when I have a big group of people in the house, otherwise I only use this one. I've had ZERO problems with it. The coffee it makes is good. What else do you need? You make your coffee, you drink it freshly made, and that's it. I purchased this item in Target on sale, but even not on sale it isn't that expensive, considering it is programmable and the timer features. It's a good product and I recommend it. I don't get the negative reviews. What more do you expect from this little machine?
Customer Review: Don't buy it
Poorly designed, awkward to use. The control panel and water gauge are located on the side, thus requiring you to turn the brewer sideways when using. But what you see might as well have stayd out of sight. You cannot "read" the water gauge unless you hold a flashlight on it; impossible to see the water level, because of the dark colors. The control pad is flimsy and too small for easy touch control. The light indicating power on is so small that you have to bend down to be eye level with that light in order to see it clearly, and that eye level is less than three inches above counter top. You could easily leave the power on without ever noticing it. The stainless caraffe is handsome enough, but of course it has no water level indicator to compensate for the unreadable one on the base. I get irritated every time I make coffee.

It's likely that the majority of stainless steel coffee makers are sold because they have that different look. The brushed stainless finish almost always looks nicer then a regular white plastic coffee maker, and glass carafe. Especially with the kitchens of today being extra stylish, and often having stainless steel appliances, don't we all want it to match?

What some people might not realize is that there is more to a stainless steel coffee maker then just another pretty face. There are specifically two key advantages I like about a stainless steel maker versus my old regular plastic glass carafe coffee maker. One is to do with replacement parts, the other to do with how my coffee tastes each morning.

Possibly you haven't done this, but leaving a glass carafe in the sink for a day then doing dishes that evening offers a pretty good chance you could crack that carafe. Especially if you're loading more dishes in on top of that carafe through the day. Of course we can all leave it on the counter, or in the coffee maker, but bottom line is coffee maker carafes aren't indestructible especially those made of glass.

A stainless steel coffee maker often comes with a stainless steel carafe. Guess what, really tough to break a stainless steel coffee carafe. You can drop it on the floor, leave it in the sink, some even put in the dish washer to reduce clean up time. I love it, can't beat something that I don't have to wash and I can't break it.

Now the second benefit of a stainless steel coffee maker also has to do with the carafe. Often times when I brew half a pot of coffee just for myself, I don't get around to drinking it all while it's fresh. The burner on the coffee maker tends to burn the coffee and reduce the taste and aroma, with a stainless carafe they're usually thermal as well. Meaning they don't require another heat source they keep the coffee warm inside by sealing in the warmth, and being insulated in the body. Just like a thermos you'd take to work with you.

Prices vary from under a hundred to several hundred dollars for a stainless coffee maker. All the major brands offer a stainless version of their top selling models including Cuisinart, Black and Decker, and Kitchen Aid. If you're shopping for a new drip coffee maker, be sure to consider a stainless steel model, and remember the extra few dollars it might cost isn't just for that sharp looking brushed stainless appearance it's for the added features to.

Black & Decker (Us) Inc B&D Drip Coffee Maker 5 Cup Prog. Permanent Filter

Drip coffee maker with permanent filter. Makes 5 cups of coffee. Can be programmed digitally. Non-stick hotplate. Water level window.

According to the Associated Press, Starbucks Corporation has seen its stock price plummet fifty percent in 2006. Citing the decline in home values and the increase in fuel prices with stiffer competition from unlikely rivals, Dunkin' Donuts and McDonald's Corporation, Starbucks will scale back on domestic store openings while pumping up their international market.

Another profit concern they have is the rise of copycats. When you have a winner, everyone wants to copy you. Really. Even 7-11 has gotten into the picture by fine-grinding their beans (making them darker and stronger) and replacing their cups and lids that rivals Starbucks' in appearance.

Has Starbucks suffered?

You could never tell in my area. There's a Starbucks drive-thru that seems to average five cars per minute. Then there's the Starbucks kiosk inside a Von's Supermarket only two hundred feet away from a Starbucks coffeehouse. The mom-and-pop donut house in the same center has not recovered since Starbucks arrived.

Starbucks is definitely the Big Dog on the block. Because of that, competitors want to model their success. (Or take a shot at them.) And even consumers want their identity tied to that of a bonafide winner.

I'm downtown one business morning. There are coffee lovers parading their Starbucks boldly and proudly. They don't drink them because you don't drink a status symbol.

I call this getting a Double Buzz. One from showing off their status symbol. And the other from downing the potent brew.

Get this: an inside source from 7-11 says she has witnessed people coming into the store to buy the house coffee using Starbucks tumblers. How's that for ingenuity? These misguided few want the world to perceive them as winners so badly they are willing to cheat. Just to get a buzz.

Everyone wants to identify with a winner...

Think of all the knockoff clothing and accessories consumers are wearing that has a logo or design from high-end fashion designers. The golf ball with Tiger Woods' signature will outsell the same balls with the Nike logo. My laptop with the Prancing Horse logo and Ferrari Red paint cost me six hundred dollars more than the equivalent one with the company brand name.

It never fails. We want to identify with winners. It must be written in our DNA.

Specialty products increase profits...

Starbucks developed a product line of grinders, mugs, and even an expresso machine. It's brilliant. Instead of buying your coffee maker from outside sources, they're keeping you grounded to their brand name. They're prospering from this new pipeline because they know brand identity is so strong, you wouldn't be caught dead making coffee from a Black and Decker when you have friends over. It's social suicide.

So what does this specialty coffee's success mean for you and me?

If you want to increase your success, consumers must perceive you as a winner. Or believe that you possess the winning drive to go all the way. That's whom people want to identify with. That's whom consumers want to buy from.

Brand identity. Associating with a winner. People will buy more, and more often with you if they know you're a winner.

Black & Decker DDCM200 Dual Personal Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless

2 Pack, 16 OZ, Stainless Steel, Travel Coffeemaker, Mugs, Cone Filter.
Customer Review: Good enough
I just bought this item for $20. I thought since I only drink 1-2 cups a day, this would do and I could share if I had company. The coffee comes out steaming and the flavor is fine. It is easy to use, but the knob on the top does seem flimsy, so I followed someone else's suggestion and am keeping it on 2 cups and run water through to the 2nd cup. The cups are the problem in my opinion. They hold plenty of liquid and keep the coffee fairly warm for the duration, but the lid does not stay on very tight and whether you leave it on or take it off to drink, the lip of the rim is a little too wide and makes it difficult to drink without dribbling. I guess my suggestion would be to make the coffee and then pour into a better cup. Like I said, good enough for my purposes for the money.
Customer Review: Poor Quality
One of the mugs bases broke off within the first month of purchasing this coffee maker. And when I make two cups of coffee one mug only brews half of a cup and the other a full cup. Really strange. I contacted the company to complain to try to get a replacement but they never answered my email. I would skip this one and go for another brand.

Coffee maker reviews name the Braun Tassimo as one of Braun's top products. The Braun Tassimo is a highly innovative coffee maker. Instead of using coffee grounds or pods, the Braun Tassimo produces coffee using Tassimo discs, which are also called T-discs.

These discs are not raw coffee materials. Instead, they are actual disks that contain data about how to prepare certain beverages. The Braun Tassimo coffee maker simply reads the data and prepares coffee based on it. Reviews name this product as one of the most innovative products around.

Keurig also has great products that also get great reviews, such as the B60. The B60 is a great product known for brewing good-tasting coffee and for its convenient features aimed towards the home user. Reviews say that Keurig has a good collection of exceptional home coffee makers.

If you are checking out Capresso, reviews will tell you that its best product yet is the MT500. This product is actually a drip coffee maker, which is one of the reasons why it is widely popular. But aside from that, the MT500 has a thermal carafe to keep coffee warm longer, an LCD with backlight, and a control panel with soft touch buttons. Although the product is quite expensive, reviews say that the buy is worth it.

As for Cuisinart, they have many great products, which is not surprising because they hold the title of being one of the best and most trusted kitchen appliance manufacturers by homemakers. Gevalia, on the other hand, is mostly known for their thermal coffee makers as well as their dual coffee makers. These coffee makers have two separate pots that can hold 12 cups each, so the coffee maker can produce 24 cups in all.

Melitta is also another coffee maker master. Reviews consider the Melitta Smart and Brew as one of the company's best suits. This product can grind the coffee beans and brew them right afterwards in one fluid process.
